In 2008 the 5 most popular names for boys in the US were Jacob, Michael, Ethan, Joshua and Daniel.
Jacob is a relatively new leader. For 44 years, Michael was the most popular name in the US until it moved to the second spot in 1991.
But when we look at the states where most Latinos live, things are different.
Since 1997, the most popular baby name in Texas is Jose. In California, Daniel has been the top name since 1994. In both states, Angel is used more for boys than for girls.
